The Alhambra

The Alhambra in Spain is one of those places that has managed to capture the imagination of generations. That's particularly true of Westerners, whose colder climes have made the ephemeral walls and courtyards of the Alhambra all the more enchanting. I recently read an article about how (mostly second-rate) British romantic poets used the Alhambra as representing the dichotomy between indoor/outdoor, domestic/political, male/female. Its titled, "The Exotic Politics of the Domestic: The Alhambra as Symbolic Place in British Romantic Poetry," by Diego Saglia, Comparative Literature Studies, vol. 34, no. 3, 1997.
I've always wanted to make a pilgrimage to the Alhambra, but may never make it. However my father recently went, and took hundreds of photographs for me. I want to post only the less famous shots, the views of the Alhambra you won't get in textbooks. Enjoy!
