The Alfred Jewel. The Alfred Jewel was found on the estate of Sir Thomas Wrothe at North Petherton, Somerset in 1693. It passed to his uncle Colonel Nathaniel Palmer in 1698, and in 1718 it was given to the University of Oxford. It is now in the Ashmolean Museum.
